Why It Matters

• Among new AI PhD graduates in the U.S., only 2.4% are Black. The future is being built—and too many are being left out of the room. MisterGemba helps bridge that gap through storytelling, skills, and access.
• Just 3.6% of pilots in the U.S. are Black or African American—and less than 1% are Black women. In aviation, the cockpit remains out of reach for many. We use narrative and community to shift that.
• Between 2019-2022, Black cinematographers represented just 1.4% to 5.5% of those working on top-grossing films—and even fewer are from Africa. Visual storytelling needs more global perspectives. We’re here to amplify them.
• There has been only ONE Black driver in Formula One’s 75-year history—Sir Lewis Hamilton. While 25 drivers from South Africa have competed, motorsport remains one of the least racially diverse arenas globally. We challenge that by spotlighting talent and building pathways.
• Africa produces just 0.1% of all global patents. But its innovation potential is massive. MisterGemba connects talent to tools and the world stage.
• Creative talent often lacks clear access to tech and tech talent often lacks cultural fluency. We build bridges between disciplines, so purpose-driven people can do both.
